EGG
SUPPLIES
for creating Virtual Eggs
by Maureen Williams

While most of us
enjoy creating egg designs, this is not always possible today for
various reasons. Some may find time is a problem, for others it may
be the cost of supplies, while for some of us it may be a disability
like arthritis, which keeps us from our true passion of using real
eggshells. For those of you who like creating virtual eggs I've put
together some supplies to help you to create egg designs on your
computer.
This page may not
qualify as everyone's idea of "egg decorating" but as I've been
playing with my Carved Egg tutorial
I've become more and more fascinated with what can be done on
screen. You may want to use the supplies from this page to see what
a particular stand will look like with your real egg design.
However, this page may just fill a gap in your creativity and allow
you to create all types of eggs just for the pleasure of decorating
an egg shape.
Whatever your passion
I hope you enjoy playing with these priceless items. Some I have
cleaned from my own pictures or modified artwork, others have come
from pictures in catalogues.
Preset Shape
By following my Carved Egg
tutorial you can quickly and easily transform any picture image into
an egg shape. However, if you want to just start with an egg shaped
outline I have created a preset shape for the two later PSP
versions. This will allow you create your outline in any size &
colour to suit your requirements.
In my example I have
used a linear gradient with 1 repeat to give me the darker
edges to the egg shape. Any gradient, shading from dark to light,
will give the same effect.

PSP 7 Preset Shape
Unzip this .jsl file into your Shapes folder in PSP 7 or where
you store your other preset shapes. |
PSP 8 Preset Shape
Unzip this .Pspshape file into your Preset Shapes folder where
your "My PSP 8 Files" are stored. |
Other Supplies
The zip files are
saved in .psp format so they can be used with either PSP 7 or PSP 8.
You may wish to use them as is, or create tubes from them, or even
colourise to suite your own requirements. I'll add to these as I get
more images cleaned.
Be sure to have each
part of your design on a separate layer so you can move the
individual parts as required. Use the Deformation Tool to
resize each layer in proportion to your egg
Click on the desired image to

colour as desired.
On the scroll layer select the
outline with the Magic Wand and apply your desired effect.

Tubes to Download
Note: If using the Vector Tube Script be sure the set
the
Placement mode to Continuous
Selection mode to Incremental
and adjust the scale as required. Most should be between 50 - 75.
Download a horizontal preset
egg shape here.
For those of you with earlier versions
of PSP you can
download all of the following files in
.psp format
so you can make tubes in the version you are using.
Note: Tube files below are in Version
9 format
For those who can't open the tubes I've
saved the tubes in .psp format
so they should open in all versions of PSP.
Braids
Finials
Gold Cord
Pearls
Rhinestone
If you have an earlier version of PSP
and find any other supplies
that you can't open please let me know.
Examples using the Tubes
These eggs may not be the most artistic
eggs but have been done to display
some new tubes I have made up for those who like playing with
virtual eggs.

Clocks
For a collection of clock faces to
choose from go
to Clock Prints. Finishing Touches
The glass preset in Eye Candy is an easy
way to add a highlight to the eggs.
Adding a drop shadow to different parts
of your design will add to the realism.
Use tubes or other images to decorate
your eggs.
Let your imagination be your guide
- experiment and have fun!
If you have any suggestions or comments
you would like to share with the group please feel free to do so. As
always, if you have any problems or need additional help
email me.
