Forward Yahoo Mail
to Outlook Express
by Maureen WilliamsFor
those of you who use Yahoo for your email address but would like the
convenience of reading your mail
in Outlook Express I've put together a mini tutorial on how to set up both
accounts for it to work.
Note:
After a process of elimination I've discovered these instructions
will not work using a US based Yahoo address.
Yahoo, in their wisdom, have obviously decided that their American
members have nothing better to do with their
money than pay for POP access using Yahoo Mail Plus to
access this option and therefore pay for the privilege.
However, if you
wish to be able to use the Mail Forwarding facility as described in
these instructions
you can create a new
Yahoo ID and
select Yahoo! Australia or Yahoo! United Kingdom
in the Preferred content box rather than Yahoo! US .

This will then
allow access to the POP Access & Forwarding option show below.
Step 1
Open your Yahoo Mail account.
Right click on the Mail tab.
Select Options

Step 2
In the Mail Options window that opens double click on the
POP Access and Forwarding heading.

Step 3
In the Mail Delivery Status window choose Web & POP Access
in Step 1 and in Step 2 select HTML messages. Click on Submit.

Step 4
Print out the Configuration details showing the Incoming &
Outgoing Mail Server and your account details
You will need this to set up a new account in Outlook Express.

Step 5
Open Outlook Express.
Click on Tools > Accounts.
Click on the Mail Tab and select your Default account.
Click on Properties > Servers and write down the details in the
Outgoing Mail box.
Cancel to return to the Accounts box.
Step 6
Click on Add > Mail
When the Internet Connection Wizard opens enter the name you wish to
appear in the From field.
On the next page enter your Yahoo email address from the
Configuration details you printed out.
On the E-Mail Server Names box enter the Yahoo Incoming Mail detail
as shown on the Configuration print out.
In the Outgoing Mail box enter the details from your Outlook Express
account as noted in Step 5.

On the Internet Mail Logon page enter
the Account Name and Password
from the Configuration printout. Click next and then Finish to exit
the wizard.
Your account is now set up.
Sending Mail from Outlook Express using
Yahoo Account You can send
mail from Outlook Express using your Yahoo email address.
Open Outlook Express and click on New Message.
In the From box click on the drop down arrow on the right hand side
and select your Yahoo account.

Testing your New Mail Account
Send yourself a test email using your
normal email address to your Yahoo address.
Send an email to your normal email address using your Yahoo address
(as show above). Both test
emails should show up in your In Box in Outlook Express.
You can also
sort your Yahoo mail into a separate folder to make it easier to
identify. If you have any
queries don't hesitate to
contact me.
Please help me keep this site up and
running....
ANYTHING is appreciated, thank you so much!
