Creating Custom Corners
by Maureen Williams

This mini tutorial will show you how to
create a custom corner image, which can then be used to make your
own easy preset frames. Any dingbat font
can be used with great results.
I am using PSP 8.1
for this tutorial but these could also be created in Version 7 or
earlier versions.
You will need:
Paint Shop Pro - you can download a free 30-day trial from
here.
Your choice of dingbat font or download one of these:
Border Corners -
use letters a - z
Border Corners2 - use
letters a - z
corners 1 - use letters A -
L
corners 2 - use letters A -
L
Deco Borders - use
letters A - K
Dizzinz Corners - use
letters A - X
Florid Victorian
Ornament - use letters A - Z and a - z
Remember to save frequently
Step 1
Open a new transparent image 150 x 150
Set foreground and background to white.
Note: I have added a blue background layer to make the image
clearer in the tute.
Step 2
Click on the Text Tool and select the dingbat of your choice.
For this tutorial I have used Florid Victorian Ornament - letter z.
Select "Floating" in the Create as box.

Step 3
Use the Mover Tool to position the dingbat in the top left hand
or right hand corner - depending on the dingbat used.
Do not deselect.

Now comes the fun part!
Step 4
Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Sculpture and select the Gold
preset or another one of your choice.
I have changed the colour to a lighter shade to tone down the image.

Step 5
Alternatively, use your favourite Super
Blade Pro pre-set or other plug-in to enhance your corner.

Step 6
Save your corner in .psp format or export it as a tube.
Instructions for making a single tube are
here.
Don't forget to delete the coloured background layer if you used one
so you have a transparent background.
Notes
It may be necessary to change the
font size, depending on the dingbat chosen, to suit your own
requirements.
This mini tute is a guide only - be adventurous!
Experiment with
different textures, colours and presets to enhance your corner.
Use the Deformation Tool to rotate an image as required.
