GLITTER BRUSH TAG
Animation Instructions
by Maureen Williams

The idea for this tutorial was inspired by a glitter text tutorial at Amber's PSP Web Pages.
This is a simplified version of the animation part of the tutorial.
For a more in-depth look at the technicalities go to Amber's site.

This tutorial is a continuation of the Glitter Brush Tag tutorial and here we will be adding glitter and animating the text. If you haven't already done the first part of the tute I suggest you return here after you have done up to this stage.

Step One
Following on from where we left off, right click on the Promoted Selection layer and rename text1.
Click on the Duplicate Layer icon - next to the Delete Key

Create two copies of the text layer and rename them text2 and text3

Step Two
Turn off the text1 and text2 layers and click on the text3 layer to make it active.
Go to Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

Gaussian - checked
Monochrome - checked
Noise 75%

Click OK

Note: for a more colourful effect uncheck Monochrome.

Step Three
Go to Effects > 3D Effects and apply an inner bevel with the following settings:

Step Four
Now go to Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow with the following settings:
Vertical & Horizontal Offset = 6
Opacity = 35
Blur = 5
Colour - Black

Step Five
Turn off the text3 layer, unhide the text2 layer and repeat steps 2 - 4,
changing the Noise percentage to 85% for this layer.

Step Six
Turn off the text2 layer, unhide the text1 layer and repeat steps 2 - 4,
changing the Noise percentage to 75% for this layer.

Unhide all layers - you should have 5 layers and save your work.

Step Seven
While still in PSP click on Save As and select  Animation Shop (*.psp)
from the Save as Type drop down Box.

Note: If you are using an earlier version of PSP8 you will need to change the file name extension
to .psp (not .pspimage) and click on Options and select Save as PSP7 compatible file.
Animation Shop only works with files compatible with Version 7.

Step Eight
Open Animation Shop and locate your .psp file

Note: You will have 5 frames - the same as the number of layers in PSP.
Zoom out so you can see all the frames on the desktop.

Click on the Propagate Paste icon.
Click on the brush (or tube) frame so you get the blue outline around it.

Step Nine
Hold down the left mouse button and drag the frame contents over to the first text frame.
The brush or tube will automatically paste into both the other text frames.

Step Ten
To copy the background frame click on frame 1 to make it active.
Go to Animation > Insert Frames > Empty Frames

In the Number of frames box enter one less than the number of animation frames being used.
Insert before frame - enter the frame number of the first animation frame.
Frame delay time - this is the speed of the animation.
The lower the number the faster the animation - the default is 10 although I personally
feel this is too fast for some animations. Experiment to your own liking.

Step Eleven
Click in Frame 4 to get the blue line around it, hold down the Shift key
and click in the other two animation frames

Go back to the first animation frame (Frame 4) and drag it over to frame 1

and the other frames will jump over when you release the mouse button.

Step Twelve
Click on the View Animation icon to test your animation.

Step Thirteen
Click on the Save icon and in the Save As box that opens give your animation a name,
select .gif in the save as type box and then accept the defaults settings
by clicking next through the following boxes.

Congratulations
You now have a sparkling animated tag to add to your emails.

I hope you have as much fun with this tutorial as I have.
There are so many variations possible from this basic technique.
Have fun!
