GRADIENT PATTERNS
by Maureen Williams

The ability to vary the centre and focal points, which has been introduced in PSP 8,
 opens up a whole range of  gradient design possibilities.

The centre focal point of this design incorporates a flood fill of the gradient and a simple tube decoration.
 The frame is a variation of this tutorial.

If you wish to use my gradient you can download it here.

Installing Gradient Files
My MW-Iris.jgd file was created in PSP 7 but can also be used in Version 8.
Unzip the file into the folder where your other gradients are located.

As a starting point enter the settings below and see what effect it has on your gradients.
This was my basic gradient made up of 4 evenly spaced colours.

These are the settings I used.
 Make sure "Link center and focal points" is unchecked.
Style = sunburst
Repeats = 1

Checking the Invert box will result in the colour at the far right of the gradient being located at the top of the pattern. Unchecked will use the gradient on the left hand end of the gradient.

This is the result.

Hints & Tips

  • Add the gradient settings to the Swatches for future use by clicking on the "Add to Swatches" tab.

  • Reducing the centre point settings to zero and increasing the focal point settings will result in the gradient being situated at the top left.

Experiment and have fun!

An excellent site for other gradients tricks is Nanson's Place.

Variation by Cass

An email from a lady called Cass with a variation of the gradient pattern
left me speechless! With Cass' approval I've put together a tutorial using her
screenshots as a guide so others can experiment as well.

Please help me keep this site up and running....
ANYTHING is appreciated, thank you so much!
