Loading Fonts into Windows

If I am downloading a font for use in PSP --  -- what file should I download it to or will fonts  always be placed correctly by default?

To use the fonts in PSP they need to be installed into the font folder in Windows. 

To do this go to the Control Panel and click on the Font folder.

Once in the Font folder click on File, Install new font.

In the box that comes up navigate to the location of your font, select the font and click OK. Make sure the box at the bottom of the box "Copy fonts to Font folders" is ticked

Alternate Method

If you don't want to install onto your system due to lack of space or if the font is for a once only use, as long as the font is open but minimised, you will be able to access it from PSP. 

Double click on the font to open the font box and then minimise.
