This was the first tutorial
I wrote for PSP and is written in version 7.04. It has previously been displayed
on another site as I didn't have my own web page. If you find any mistakes in the instructions please let
me know.
You will need:
Jasc Paint Shop Pro--you can download a free copy
HERE Dragon Fly's Sinedot II filter - you
can download the filter HERE.
My sinedot flower, leaf & stem tubes (Download zip file
HERE) Optional: Sparkle tube Sparkle yellow tube
Ulead Art Texture
- you can download the filter HERE.
You will need to unzip the tube files (MW-sinedot flower elg, MW-sinedot leaf1 & MW-sinedot stem and put them in your tubes folder.
Now to get started! (Don't forget to save often!) |
 |
Open a new transparent image, 500 x 500 (this will give you plenty of room to flip and move and will be resized later)
Flood fill this layer with black and rename layer "Black Background".
Open a new layer and name it "Flower"
Open the tube tool and select the "MW-sinedot flower elg" tube
Apply to the flower layer - position isn't important.
Use the deformation tool to move the flower to the top of the page |
 |
Open a new layer and name it "flower centre" |
 |
Select the flower tube again and change
the scale to 50
Apply the tube to the flower centre layer (the position isn't important) |
 |
Go to Image/Flip
Select the Deformation tool again and move the flower centre into the top of the flower
Save your file |
 |
Open another layer and name it "stem"
Open the tube tool and select the MW-sinedot stem tube
Apply in the centre of the page
Go to Image/Flip
Use the Deformation tool to position the stem over the bottom of the flower
Now drag the stem layer down below the flower layer |
 |
Open another layer and call it "leaf 1".
Open the tube tool and select the
MW-sinedot leaf1
Apply your leaf.
Use the Deformation tool to move and rotate the leaf as desired.
Save your file
|
 |
Right click on the left leaf layer
and Duplicate.
On the copy of left leaf, go to Image/Mirror
Use the Deformation Tool to move & rotate the leaf on the right hand side
Save your file |
 |
If desired open another layer named "sparkle" and use the sparkle tube on the tips of the leaves and the top of the flower.
Open another layer and add the Sparkle Yellow tube set at 50 to tone down and blend the bottom of the leaves to the stem. Also add one at the bottom of the flower to soften the join.
Go to Layers/Merge All
Go to Image/Resize and select 75% of original
Go to Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen
Now for a border! |
 |
Set your background colour to white.
Go to Image/Border.
Border size of 5 with Symmetric checked.
Use the Magic Wand to select the border.
Go to Effects/Plug-in Filters/Ulead/Art Texture |
|
Click on Edit and select #5 Gold - click OK.
In the Pattern Templates select #13 (second from right at the bottom)
In the resulting patterns in the Pattern Samples select the bottom right hand side.
Click OK to apply the filter. Do not deselect!
Go to Effect/Inner Bevel and apply the Round preset.
Deselect and Save your file. |
 |
Now create another border using the same instructions as before, changing the border size to 25.
Use the Magic Wand to select the border.
Go to Effects/Reflection Effects/Kaleidoscope with the following settings:
Horizontal Offset 60 Vertical Offset 11 Rotation 0 Scale 83 No of petals 2 No of orbits 0 Radial Suction 15 |
|
Click OK
Go to Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the same presets as before.
Deselect and resize if necessary
Save your file |
| |
|
Unfortunately, I didn't write down the actual Kaleidoscope presets I used for my original image but the out-come of this effect will change even with the positioning of the image on the page.
Experiment with each of the settings until you find a combination that appeals to you.
Go
here for the presets used for the 3 Sinedot tubes in case you want to play with them.
You will need to copy and paste all the preset details into your Sinedots
presets folder. I would love to see what you come up with.
I hope you
have enjoyed this tutorial! Maureen Williams Diamond
