Making Rugs

Challenge 1 ] Challenge 2 ] Challenge 3 ] Challenge 4 ] [ Challenge 5 ] Challenge 6 ] Challenge 7 ]

This is your challenge should you choose to accept it.

Can be done in either PSP 7 or PSP 8

Loop Pile Rug
This mini tutorial will show you how to make custom rugs for your decorated rooms.
Note:
If you are new to plugins please ask for help if you need it.

Uses the following plugins:

  1. Choose any image and resize to 350 x 350 (if using a rectangular image uncheck the aspect ratio box so you can change both sides)
  1. Promote to Layer (don't forget to do this step!)
  1. Use the VM Distortion plugin - Kaleidoscope preset, I used 146, 146 for Divisions & Rotation but you can experiment with the settings to suit your own preferences.
  1. Apply the Redfield Lattice Composer - Wallen Tiles preset. (Note: this was using an earlier version of the Lattice Composer - it can be downloaded from here.)

  2. Go to Effects, Geometric Effects, Circle. (PSP 8 use Edge Mode transparent)

  3. Use the VM Distortion - Kaleidoscope again with the Default settings of 128, 128. 0

  4. For a more "rug like" appearance go to Effects, Texture Effects, Texture, Canvas preset. Change the depth to 40 or 50. Note: the Texturizer plugin can also be used for this step.
Please share the steps, filters or functions used with the group so others
can experiment and learn from your creative combinations if they wish.

This is an example to show you what I mean.

Hints & Tips

Be warned - this  can be very addictive!

For an oval rug increase the canvas size to 350 x 500 and use the
Deformation Tool to stretch the circle.

Experiment with the settings for both the kaleidoscope and the textures available.

Will you accept the Challenge???
